![]() You’ll unlock the majority of content in Final Fantasy XIV through this, ranging from dungeons to boss fights. Every quest with the unique meteor marker is part of the Main Story Quest, or MSQ. This is the main attraction of the free trial. Screenshot by Destructoid Finish the Main Story Quest These have been arranged roughly by priority, so feel free to skip some of these and continue the main story in the full game. While we can’t list every possible goal, below are the major objectives for trial players to pursue. That said, if you’re beginning your journey in Eorzea, it can be hard to tell what exactly you should finish. You will have some restrictions, but we’ll get into that later. Since a subscription will be required to continue playing once you purchase the title, you could potentially save yourself months of fees by identifying the content you’d like to finish before upgrading. Whether that’s advisable is up to you, but the point is, you can do a lot before buying the game. Like, really big.īetween all the content in A Realm Reborn and the Heavensward expansion, you could theoretically play this trial for 1000 hours and still find goals to pursue. Instead, the frustration you get when you have farmed 50 fates and your crystal still hasn't dropped just makes me want to turn of the game and do something else. You can play for months before subscribing I'd much rather have a set number of fates to farm (even if it was like 20 or 30 tbh). you can get them in 5 fates or 25 fates and there's nothing you can do about it. If I had gotten similar drop rates to the rest of my zones in the hinterlands (let's assume 20 like the longer zones) my rate would have been a lot higher (18%). Total fates for all crystals: 134 My % drop rate: 13% xD) Forelands Crystal 1: 4 Crystal 2: 2 Crystal 3: 5 Total fates for 3 crystals: 11 W Highlands Crystal 1: 12 Crystal 2: 6 Crystal 3: 2 Total fates for 3 crystals: 20 Sea of clouds Crystal 1: 7 Crystal 2: 4 Crystal 3: 2 Total fates for 3 crystals: 20 Mists Crystal 1: 3 Crystal 2: 5 Crystal 3: 5 Total fates for 3 crystals: 13 Hinterlands Crystal 1: 8 Crystal 2: 27 Crystal 3: 20 Total fates for 3 crystals: 55 Azys la Crystal 1: 3 Crystal 2: 8 Crystal 3: 4 Total fates for 3 crystals: 15 ![]() (I would actually NOT recommend keeping track of the # of fates tbh because it made this seem much worse than it really was. I put my data into your survey, but here it also is if people are curious. TL DR I'd believe it if someone told me the drop rate is close to 10% but this data sucks balls, don't refer your friends to it. I'm too lazy to do a proper analysis and the data sucks anyways, so this conclusion is just a rough estimate and rather inconclusive. Number of fates estimated (based on 3 fate/minute, 4 fate/minute, 5 fate/minute): (Hours farmed*60minutes) / (fates/minute) = Fates completedĭrop rate estimated for single entry: (Crystals farmed) / (Fates completed) = drop rate %Īverage drop rate for all entries of a calculated rate taken. Since people had no good idea of how many fates they ran, I estimated the fates done based on the time played. ![]() Link to survey provided, Please feel free to answer! The results don't auto-update so I will check in later in the day to update manually: Sample size is too small, standard deviation is high, conclusion means nothing, and the data makes me feel bad.Īt the time of posting this, there are 107 responses to a survey I posted previously.
